While a lot of movies/shows out there have not been . . . exactly encouraging for the female race, there are still tons out there that are about strong women and have a feminist touch to them.
What are your favorite movies/shows that glorify the struggles we go through as women? That bring out the Xena in you? That make you go, "My uterus kicks a**!" pirate
lol Sorry. dramallama

I'll probably be adding to the list, but I'll start with those at the top of my head.
The Color Purple is one of my favorite movies. I still need to read the book which is by Alice Walker, a proclaimed feminist, gay rights activist, as well as an environmentalist. This stars Whoopi Goldberg, Oprah, and Danny Glover.
The Joy Luck Club is one that I haven't seen in a while. From what I remember, it is about the generational struggles between Chinese (or was it Japanese) women and their daughters. Stars John Cusak.
Fried Green Tomatoes—come on! What's not to love about chopping up an abusive husband and serving him for dinner at your restaurant? Stars Kathy Bates.
Paradise Road which stars Glenn Close and is about a prisoner of war camp that contained mostly woomen and is based off of actual events. Beautiful movie and I suggest it to all.
Gothika—although I hate thrillers . . . I always enjoy watching it when it is on tv. It stars Halle Barry.
Cat Woman, also starring Halle Barry, and . . . well, I only watched it once but I really liked it. biggrin
Mulan totally kicked a**. talk2hand

I thought Pirates 3 had a pretty hefty touch of feminism. I won't spoil why, but those who have seen it probably know what I'm talking about. wink

I kind of thought so too Ernie, although I was pissed about the first fight scene in which out of all the people in the room only three were women, yet both of the brutal deaths they showed were women.
Unfortunately I don't get around to seeing that many movies, although I have seen Fried Green Tomatoes. I really liked Lady Oscar. It's a pretty old film, but I think it really has some feminist influence to the story.

I thought Kevin Sorbo was a horrible actor. Lucy Lawless brought the show alive as well as Renee Conner (or is it O'Conner)?
