Oh brother! Some idiot tried to scam me. They pretended to be a mod and asked for my password. They must think I fell off the turnip truck five minutes ago. Not even my imaginary friends know my password. xd
I seriously considered giving them fake information just for fun. Then again, it may be best to let sleeping mutant flesh-eating bugs from the planet Korak lie.

I absolutely did report it. I do keep the message in the my inbox, though. I never know when I may really need it, not to mention it gives me a good laugh every once in a while.
Oops, my imaginary friends seem to be looking over my shoulder.

I get two or three of those pm's a month and they aren't even my personal favorites!! It's getting so I giggle while slapping the report button. rofl Here's my favorite. Hanging out in the Q&A forum I have seen SO many people who've allowed themselves to be scammed like this. Thankfully I was not born yesterday. Pay special attention to the part about gift boxes. Sheesh. rolleyes The people who've been falling for this have been giving up monthly collectibles and getting things like garbage masks in return, hidden in gift boxes so they can't tell until it's too late. Quote: I will trade you 1 of my items for your Yokai's Treasure. ~) No begging! ~) No more than 1 item! ~) I wont be your friend! The items to pick from: 1 Nitemare Scarf,1 Angelic Sash, 1 Steel Plated Ninja Headband, 2 Baby Seal Slippers, 1 Penguin Slippers, 1 Golden Laurel, 1 Staff Of The Angels, 1 Angelic Bracelets FAQ Why are you doing this? ~) I'm leaving Gaia If your leaving why do you want my item? ~) I don't really..I'm just taking bad deals instead of giving them away. Why don't you give the rare items to your friends? ~) I'm rewarding trustworthy Gaians. If you trust me, I'll trust you and give you the item you asked for. If you don't trust me, I have no reason to make you happy by taking a bad deal. Why are the items are in giftboxes? ~) The give away I'm doing is all about trust. Leaving Gaia I want to see who can trust and who not, those who trust, get one of my big items. If you dont want it I understand... ~) I have to know that you trust me.If you don't trust me or you think I'm a scammer go ahead and report me. I'M LEAVING. and I'm sure there's someone else who wants these items I repeat: this is NOT a scam. I swear to God on that. I know it says I only joined a little while ago, but this is a MULE that I use to give out the items so nobody knows who it really is so I don't have beggars after me. Enjoy your item!

One thing that kills me is when they say the item is in a giftbox because they need you to trust them. This is particularly hilarious when they claim to be giving items away because they're leaving the site. First, since none of us know each other personally, with some exceptions of course, why should the trust issue matter online? Secondly, it definitely should't matter if the person is never coming to the site again.

I got a message yesterday saying I was reported for some reason. The PM told me to go to some survey and fill out the info, and I'd be cleared out. BULLS***! I read the rest of the PM and the person said they were an NPC, yet their username didn't have the color of NPCs. I love when a person screws themself over. blaugh

one of my friends was sent a pm that was a realllllly bad attempt. only half the words were spelled right, and it said the usual "if u dont give us your password in x minutes we will permanently ban ur acount!" but this person even went so far as to say "ignore the red box that says not to give out your password, our servers went down earlier, and we can't access peoples accounts, we also can't change the red box either."
rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl
but i felt bad though, this friend of mine is VERRRYYY naive. you could tell her anything and she will believe it.......*sigh* i pretty much babysit her on gaia ^_^ anyway, she was telling me that she was gonna send them her password, because she didn;t want to get banned, i sent my pm in time though that she read it before she sent her info. now she ALWAYS sends me any of these scamming letters, and asks if they are real or not.......she doens't get that if it asks for a password AT ALL then it isn't real
oh have you guys seen those links now that people post, when you click on it it logs you out (or it seems to) so you log back in and the person has your info. now that it is starting to be known a bit, people are posting the link with a disclaimer saying "its my giveaway thread, (or something similar) and some people have said my link logs them out, so just log back in and it will take you to my thread. This problem has happened a few times, idk why.....blah blah blah
ok, this is a long enough post lol

someone sent me one as soon as i put something up for auction. I reported him , but the problem is that hackers use hacked accounts to do their dirty work.
Giving them a false password for your account might make them try to log incorrectly several times, locking your account temporarily. so it may annoy you more than the hacker.

Almost every time I add something new to the Marketplace I get one of those 'I'll give you three MC's for your one!' rolleyes Uh huh. Pull the other one. Ah well. What would Gaia be without the hackers. heh. xd

I have to say I have had about 5 of those PM's sent to myself and my mule (combined). I noticed every time my mule sold something on the market for 9k+ someone would send a PM to me, like "Modbot 02" rofl
I just report them all.
Ive not had a begger in some time for which I am glad and I am wondering if the phishing filter in IE 7 filters out those staged hacking sites because ive not gotten one yet. I also know that all the windows I use are all in tabs so a pop up just causes me to close it. 3nodding
