You find yourself several days out on your trip. It has been 5 days since you last were in a town and the road signs seem to say that it will be several more to the next. Night is falling fast and the chill in the air seems to suggest a cold one at that. Dark clouds hang in the sky giving the feel of approaching rain. The woods look dark and un-inviting more so in this area than any you had passed before.

It is well know that to sleep in the The Black Heart Forest invites trouble as the Elm trees in this area are said to be alive. Travelers from all over speak of the trees move and groaning in the winds at night. They are said to even snatching up sleeping traveler who were never seen again. So it would seem that sleeping in the woods here would be a bad idea. So you press on hoping for a clearing to side of the walking path close enough to avoid the trees yet not on the footpath. As it grows darker you being to wonder if you will ever find a safe place to rest or if you will be forced to walk all night and sleep in the safety of day. Then thought the edges of the trees around the next bend you can almost make out a light flickering. Your pace quickens as you hope to find another travelers camp. But as you round the corner what meets you eyes surprises you.

There standing tall in the middle of the lonely path is a building. Lights flicker invitingly thought the windows and soft music flows from it. As you move closer you can see a sign standing by the door. It reads The Raven Inn and Tavern. Where the past is behind you and nothing is what it seems. All Travelers Welcome. It is in that moment that the weather chooses to turn bad. The wind goes from chilly to freezing and rain pours down in sheets making even the short walk from the path to the Inns door hard. You rush forwards and knock on the large wooden door. At first there is no answer so after a moment you knock again this time the door swings open and a lovely slender blond woman stands before you.
"Oh dear! You are soaked to the bone! Come in and warm yourself! Welcome to the Raven."

Kitty hums to herself quietly as she sweeps the floor and wipes the tables it was a quiet day in fact it had been a quiet week. Her guest all save one had checked out on sunday and the one remaining guest seemed to be sleeping in and she didn't mind. Though she did prefer things when they were busier.

She smiles brightly over at Flin. "Good evening! Welcome to the Raven. Looks like you made it here just in time. Not to safe out in those woods after dark."

Moves behind the counter.
"Can I get ya something to eat? Still have a bit of stew and some chops or salad if ya want?"

[[get ready for over-dramatic first post]]

A wagon pulled by two horses pulls up in front of the Inn. There is a loud, booming, laughter from the Gypsies traveling inside.
"Thanks, Hutz" chuckled a familiar voice. "Thanks for the ride. Why don't you come in for a drink?"
Bobby, Back from a longer-than-expected trip hopped off the wagon. He had a large backpack strapped to him, a large, heavy case in each of his hands, and was stumbling as always.
"I do not think so, my friend" Hutz replied under a thick Ukrainian accent, and an even thicker Ukrainian mustache. "People to see, Things to do. You know."

Bobby caught his balance finally. He wiped the sweat from his forehead, resting one of his cases on the ground.
Though he looked tired, He was more or less the same man he was when he left. Of course, since then, too many things had happened.
He brushed the now shoulder-length hair from his eyes, and patted his old hat back on his head.
Some things don't change.

"Alright. Take care, Hutz" Bobby called out.
Hutz nodded and said quietly "You can still come live with us, you know. You are grand hero to us." He twisted his mustache solemnly.
"We will miss you grand much."
Bobby couldn't quite respond to this. He just laughed. "I'm no hero, Hutz. I just helped. I did what any neighbor would do. Besides... Kitty..."
Hutz scoffed. "You've been gone for year and two month" he reached a giant arm out and pulled Bobby closer. "You go out to city to purchase supplies, and not come back for year and months... She believes you to be dead by now"
"Well, then. All the more reason to go back. She's family to me, Hutz. I promised to take care of her."
"I understand, young Robert"

And like that, with the snap of a whip, the wagon was gone, and Bobby was alone. just mere feet from where he had longed to be for so many long months.

*A year already? Jeez... She's going to kill me* Bobby thought to himself.

He walked up to the door and heard Kitty's voice, and smelled breakfast.
"Well, at least you didn't wait for me to cook something for you" Bobby bellowed from the other side of the door.
"You'd have long since starved by now."
Bobby walked through the door, dropped the two large cases on the floor, and rubbed his chin.
It was now covered with a patchy beard, which was odd, as he had always stayed so clean-cut back when he lived at the raven.
It seemed now he was just realizing how much he had changed.

Everything stopped, just for a moment.
You could hear a pin drop.

"Kitty," he whispered, tearfully. "I'm home."

Kitty was in the kitchen washing up dishes when she heard the sound of hooves outside. She whipped her damp hands on her apron and turned the fire back on under the oatmeal and bacon. It sounded like several new arrives and cold food is never a good thing. She started a fresh pot of coffee and tea warming. Bits of conversation floated thought the closed window. Words like supplies and year were clear but most of the rest were hard to make out.

"They sound like they have had a long trip"
She though and started grabbing out plates. The sound of hooves moving away surprised her then she heard some one moving to the door and a voice say something about cooking and starving. With a smile she cared the empty plate out to the counter to lay it out for the hungry traveler.

CRASH!! The dishes fall to the floor. Her eyes widen and her face goes very white and for a long moment time stands still as she looks across the room at a dead man.
"B...B...Bobby?" Her voice is little more than a whisper and then she c lapses in a heap to the floor.

"Kitty, it's okay! It's me!" Bobby rushed towards kitty to help her up, dropping all of his things to the ground with an loud, painful THUD.
"I'm sorry, I'm so, so sorry" he sobbed. "I never meant to leave you like that."
A few tears trickled down his face.
"But I'm home now, I'm home."
He approached her slowly, as he didn't want to startle her any worse than he already had.
He stretched out his arms and smiled.
"I never want to leave you again."

She lay there uncontentious on the floor but at the sound of his familiar voice her eyes flutter open and look up into his.
"Bobby?... Is that you?" She reaches up and touches his face. "You're alive?" Sits up. "You're ALIVE!" She throws her arms around his neck hugging him for several seconds. Then with out warning she pulls back. "You are ALIVE?" With a sudden movement she slaps him hard.

"Gah!"
Bobby stumbled back, holding his face. he looked back at her with tears in his eyes.
"I... I guess I deserved that... I'm so, so sorry" he bit his lip and stared down at his shoes.
"I tried to come back... I did. I couldn't."
He took off his hat and shoved it in his pocket, pushing the hair out of his eyes.
"... I don't even know what I should say..."

She could see the pain and tears in his eyes and smiled back through her own tears.
"Say you'll stay? Or that you'll tell be before you leave again?"
Tears run down her checks as she reaches up and hugs you close.

Bobby held her close and began to laugh.
I was... well, taken against my will. If it were at all possible, I would have said something to you. I never meant to leave like that.
My days of adventuring are behind me...

He smiled again and looked at her closely.
"You look so great. Like always.
I guess elves age slower than Humans, eh?"

He chuckled heartily looking at his shabby manner of dress and appearance.
"But, then again, I haven't been really taking care of myself the past year"
He held her tighter.
Tell me, What did I miss. How have you been since I left?
