Who: Naruto, Relm, Rune, Seifer (& Katy)
What: a walk in the park & an unlikely baby sitter
Where: a park
When: Sunday 8 July 2007, midafternoon
Why: It'll be fun! ^_^
It was a beautiful day, surprisingly cool for midsummer. Enough puffy clouds shifted across the sky to keep the sun's rays from staying the constant heat and also caused the shadows to flicker in & out in a never-ending & random pattern. A cool breeze darted across the land, keeping it quite comfortable.
But not so comfortable that a certain often gruff male was wearing his signature trenchcoat. He held it over his shoulder by the collar in one hand, the other hand firmly engulfing the hand of the girl at his side. Seifer was frowning, but turning to his companion the expression melted softly as he lightly kissed one of her strawberry tipped ears. Mildly surprised, Run looked at him with a loving smile at which he grinned then tilted his head to kiss her with an intensity that was both a claim and a silent proclamation of love.
Ahead of them a younger, petite female was skipping along, smiling at the day. The young actress paused in her joviality to watch their kiss thoughtfully. Thoughtful... but never revealing her own thoughts that came into play at the display. Thoughts of a certain blonde ninja that was her best friend, with whom she had shared a few playful kisses for the sake of a game but with whom she was certain now she wanted more.
Not that that's ever going to happen. Relm smiled innocently as her siblings' eyes smiled at her, paying no visible mind to Seifer's knowing gaze though she wondered what it could be that he thought he knew. He certainly was not on to her pranks, of that she was certain. Feather Tailed Cat Relm was the best of the Relms in remaining innocent. To all outward appearances. Strange that she was also the most precocious and had found the perfect prank buddy.
If only she had not fallen in love with him. That was not supposed to happen.
Hard blue eyes watched the young artist attired in her usual way, contemplating her carefree play as he lightly stroked the back of Rune's hand with his thumb. "Gil for your thoughts, Seifer?"
The male smirked, bringing his coat around to rub Rune's cheek with the back of his hand. "Raincheck." Seifer replied, before claiming her mouth again. Rune could not argue with that.

Up along the path the three were taking in the park was a playset and a sandbox that was otherwise unoccupied save for 4 different types of occupants. One was a very large, fierce looking purple FTC, with black leopard like spots along her back and tail, a black horn in place of her gem, a black bandana wrapped around her eyes and a spiked collar, paw cuff and tail cuff on her. She was laying the merry-go-round, her head held up as her ears were perked forward to the bell like laughter coming from the swing set.
Laying next to the swing set was a FTD, a female, average in size and quite unique looking to a normal FTD. One was her ears, the ends were large and puffy looking and attached to her forehead was a deer like mask. She kept her eyes on the other two, a soft look in them.
The one who was being swung in the baby seat swing was Katsumi, dressed up in a very cute white sundress with pink hibirus flowers scattered about it. Her bell tinkled as she moved back and forth and her hands clutched at the chains, her laughter filling the area as she yelled out, "Hiya, hiya!" she called out loudly, meaning 'higher, higher' in her own cute baby speech. Laying on the ground before her was a small sun hat.
And the one who was pushing was none other then the FTC Naruto. He was clad in blue jean shorts and a white muscle shirt that had the picture of a chibi fox on the front. He laughed as he gently pushed the baby Rindou back and forth. Kyubi was actually perched on the babies head, fluttering her little wings about.

Skipping along the path Relm smiled with casual, happy nonchalance at the sight that came upon her -as her heart beat wildly within her and a clamped down 'mini-Relm' inside her made grabby hands at seeing Naruto dressed like that while screaming 'want!' The little actress smiled and waved cheerfully as if nothing had changed. "Naruto! Hiya!"
There was a little extra grin allowed for teasing the ninja with the 'baby's' call.
A cross-marked ear flicked at Relm's call. Naruto? The runt? With a last caress of his lips on Rune's, Seifer pulled back with a pleased smirk. Before the glazed look could leave her soft green eyes he had slipped his arm around her bare waist & pulled her hip against him while slinging his coat back over his shoulder. Smiling, Rune let him lead her down the path after Relm. She knew he was intrigued with something & the White SeeD wondered what it could be.
The truth was, Seifer was curious. Their little 'sister' showed no signs of being in love. Other than the paintings of a certain blonde feather-tailed shinobi filling her room. To Seifer's knowledge this would be the first time the hapless little lovers would have seen each other since his 'talk' with the shinobi at Moochi's house. He was curious to see if either showed their feelings. Coming up behind Relm he grunted a greeting, blue eyes challenging & taunting the ninja -daring him to cross any line. Really daring him. Seifer wanted to see it.
Rune rested her head upon Seifer's shoulder as they walked, enjoying how he wanted her close like that even if it made walking interesting. She looked up with a soft smile at the collection of creatures. "Pleasure to see you again, Naruto. Who are your friends?"

Naruto flicked his large ears when he heard his name being called and he grabbed the swing when it came at him to stop it, not wanting to leave Katy swinging out of control. His eyes lit up in happiness and a bright smile went on his face when he saw it was Relm calling to him. He waved to her and waved to Seifer and Rune when he saw them, "Hey guys!!" he called out.
He lifted the little one out of the baby swing and set her on her feet, helping her walk over to her dropped hat and he sat down and helped her put it on, petting Kai when she trotted over. He looked up when Rune asked him who his companions were, and he looked up and smiled when NightShade slinked on over, sniffing over the giggling girl, "The cat is named NightShade! I wouldn't recommend petting her unless you have a first aid kit handy. This is Kai!" he said, petting the dog.
He then stood up and chuckled when Katy tried to hide behind his leg, her little arms wrapped around the appendage, "And this is my favorite girl, Katsumi or Katy! Katy, what do you say when you meet someone new?" he asked, looking down to her.
The little one peeked out at the tall three and then looked up at her favorite playmate and then shyly stepped out. She then brought a finger up to her mouth, looking a bit confused when he asked her, and then she brightened and did a clumsy curtsy, "Nice...to....meet chu!" she said and then giggled, grabbing the rim of her large sun hat and trying to cover her face with it.

"Pleased to meet you, NightShade, Kai & Katsumi." Rune greeted kindly, followed by Relm's happy agreement -Relm-style of course- and Seifer's own nod & grunt for each, blue eyes belying a slight remembered embarrassment for the last time he had seen Naruto's 'favorite girl'.
Relm did not show it, but inside she felt a slight ache of jealousy at hearing Katsumi was her friend's favorite girl. She knew it was silly... they were only friends. and how can I be jealous of such a cute little thing?
At Katsumi's curtsy Seifer had to admit... the little kid was cute. His smirk curled a little bit more in reaction to Katsumi's greeting and subsequent hiding behind her hat. Something the large male tried to hide behind an indiscrete cough. Both girls caught the slip, Rune lifting her brow slightly with a loving smile, Relm grinning ear to ear and falling to her knees before the child to coo happily at her. "Aren't you the cutest thing ever!! Betcha even have ol'sourpuss wishing he could have kits of his own."
A frown returned to Seifer's face along with an almost noticeable trace of darkening to his fur. Laughing softly after a brief moment of thrilled surprise Rune kissed the side of his chin. "It's okay, Seifer. She's a darling one to bring such thoughts."
He said nothing, but pulled his girl tighter to his side. What use were such thoughts anyway? Anthro cats could not have young. At least that knowledge kept him from thinking about more negative things, like how he likely would not be the best parent anyway.

Katy hide behind Naruto's leg again, shyness coming back into play when Relm kneeled down in front of her and she peeked out shyly again. Naruto had to chuckle lightly to himself and he kneeled down, petting to the top of the little ones sun hat, being sure not to bend the little plastic flowers going around it, "Don't be shy Katy-chan, she's my friend I told you about, the one that can paint!" he told her, stepping back a bit when NightShade come up to the little girl.
Katy stood there, looking up shyly at them all, even when Relm kneeled down. But she perked right back up when her favorite cat came up to her and she quickly grabbed the purple female up into her small arms, which was quite a feat since the cat was a bit bigger then her. And if anyone knew NightShade, they knew she did not like being snatched up and held and more then likely she would use her claws on them to let them go. But instead, the female cavern just hung there, purring lightly at being cuddled.
Katy waddled up Seifer and Rune, precariously holding out the FTC to them, as if asking if they wanted to pet her, "Nighty?" she asked. The cat immediately pulled back her hackles at the two and let out a low growl, as if to say 'I dare either of you to even reach for me and not leave without scratchs'. Of course these just caused the little girl to giggle.
Naruto sat back on his rump and bent his knees up, chuckling lightly as he watched his charge, looking to Relm, "It's everyones day off, so I decided to make a day of it and take Katy out to the park and maybe for some ice cream later. You guys wanna come with us?" he asked casually, hoping against hope that at least Relm would like to come with them.

Relm giggled at the shy little girl, then laughed pleasantly outright as Rune got a look of 'oh dear' and Seifer made a growl as if to say 'I don't pet anyone or anything but my girl' as Katy offered them the cavern female. "Thank you, Katsumi sweetie, but I think your kitty would prefer your pettings." The male anthro snorted. "That's an understatement." He intoned under his breath -perhaps to not upset the little one? Possibly, as Seifer gave her a small smile when he thought no one was looking before returning to his mask of control.
Trying not to stare at Naruto sitting there like that so close to her -and knowing yet another painting of him was forming in her eyes, good as he looked in that outfit... in that pose- Relm beamed with delight at her friend's suggestion. Time with Naruto and Ice Cream? "I'd love to come!" Green eyes flashed to see the others' reactions.
Rune gave a soft smile and nodded that it sounded wonderful, her mate giving a soft grunt. "Sure. Why not." The pictomancer squeaked and clapped her hands. "Terrific!"

Katy pouted a bit when it didn't look like they were going to pet her kitty, but she put her down when she started wiggling about and she rushed over to Naruto and tugged on his arm, "Slide, slide!!" she asked, smiling brightly. Naruto smiled brightly and nodded his head, "Sure thing Katy-chan! Hey Rune, why don't you stand at the bottom of the slide and catch her, and you can't help me slide her down Relm?" he asked, wanting to include them on Katy's play time.

Rune smiled. "Oh, I think I can handle that." Trailing a hand down the white cross of Seifer's shirt the White SeeD gave his slight frown a quick kiss before sliding out of his arm. The flick of her tail playfully against his legs seeming to tell him that some time away made the times together more enjoyable. Seifer could not argue that. Ever since he started letting the female into his heart any time away only made Seifer want her in his arms again more.
"Sure! How do I help?" The orphan girl, accustomed to being one of the youngest in her village and always independent did not recall ever helping or being helped to slide. But her green eyes were bright with both challenge & delight, saying 'show me the way & I'll do it!'

Naruto scooped up Katy into his arms and then stood up, gesturing them over to the slide next to the swing set, "I'll hand her up to you and you make sure she slides down!" he said, standing at the bottom of the ladder with Katy in his arms, the little one wiggling about.

Laying his coat folded in half across his arms Seifer crossed his arms and leaned imposingly against an upright bar of the swingset while watching hig girl get into place gracefully at the bottom of the slide. His blue eyes also kept cool watch on the ninja and his little sister, waiting... just waiting for one of them to break this act of friendship they had going. Knowing now what he did, Seifer was actually impressed with his sisters acting skills. She certainly was cting as if the pair were only friends.
Accustomed to being under surveylence of her big 'brother' Relm did not think anything was out of the ordinary, nor suspect that her act was being compromised. "Okay!" The artist scampered around Naruto & up the ladder. "Good thing I'm not wearing a dress!" She said with a grin, reaching down for the pink wiggling female.

A small blush went across his face at that comment and he chuckled a bit nervously, holding Katy up to Relm and handing her over. Katy giggled as she was set on the slide and she clapped her hands, wiggling her clawed feet and flapping her small wings about. "Slide, slide!!" she called out, seeing the tall female down at the bottom and wanting to go down to her.

A glimmer of a smile touched the silent male's eyes as he watched the others playing with the pink baby & seeing the short blonde's small blush. Did Relm falter a little bit in her movements seeing the blush as well, or was that his imagination? If she had it had only lasted the briefest of instants before being accommodated, for she easily took Katsumi and set her at the top of the slide. The pictomancer gave her a gentle push with a fun "Off you go, Katy!" grinning as the little one went down the slide. Then Seifer's eyes were only for his girl as she gracefully caught the bundle of pink at the bottom of the slide with a strange little smile, her soft green eyes looking over the girl's head to meet his tenderly. It brought a smile to his face. One that he seldon wore outside of when the two were alone together.

Katy squealed as she slide down the slide and she flapped her wings when she was in the arms of Rune, giggling, "Again!!" she said, clapping her paws. When she had slid down, her hat and flown off, but Kai trotted on over to Runes side, the babies hat clutched in her mouth.

Adjusting her hold on the little one with a smile, Rune pet the horned dog. "Thank you. But perhaps we should leave it off while she slides? It's sure to come off again." But she accepted the hat and brought both it and the baby over to Naruto to let him have the final say.
