Bio: Varek is a parahuman, a human-animal hybrid. When he was a child, Varek was abducted for use as a test subject in a series of illegal experiments called Project CHIMERA. These experiments included extensive gene splicing and crude surgical procedures. The goal of Project CHIMERA was to create a group of parahuman supersoldiers by combining suitably gifted human beings with powerful, predatory animals to enhance their natural abilities. Many children were abducted. Those who survived were officially conscripted by The United Government Military. Varek was conscripted and trained as an elite soldier and black operations unit. He served the TUGM for 10 years. Then, 3 years ago, the TUGM turned on the CHIMERA supersoldiers, beginning a campaign intended to cover up all traces of their illicit experiments and their results. It wasn't long before Varek was the only CHIMERA supersoldier left. Having been betrayed by his superiors, he betrayed them in turn, separating from them and becoming a mercenary. Branded a criminal by TUG, he was eventually captured and incarcerated in a maximum security prison. Now, TUG has promised to grant him his freedom if he will agree to go to Moon Alpha on one last mission.
Personality: Seeing as his superiors, TUG, created him, betrayed him, and then attempted to kill him, Varek has a very negative opinion of government and a very pessimistic outlook on the good it can do. He's come to believe that soldiers, and people in general, are little more than tools to the government. However, he also knows that the government is just a big group of people. In light of this knowledge, Varek doesn't trust people very easily, especially those with power. Once his trust is earned, it is not easily broken. He is very loyal to his "pack," and will do whatever he can to protect them. His mottos are "I am a wolf, not a dog," and "To protect is to never betray".
Other: Varek is a Lykos Class transgenic/parahuman. In other words, he's a werewolf. As such, he is capable of changing 25%, 50%, or 100% into wolf form. At 25%, he displays wolfish features, such as fangs, fur, ears, and claws (see "appearance" link). In this form, he is still primarily bipedal. At 50%, he resembles the standard werewolf archetype, half-man and half-wolf. In this form, he is still primarily bipedal. At 100%, he appears as a monstrously large wolf. In this form, he is quadrapedal. In human form, Varek seems normal, except that he operates at and beyond the peak of human physical fitness. He has remarkably accute senses and lightening-fast reflexes. His high metabolism and constant cellular regeneration have gifted him with extraordinary healing abilities and has slowed his aging process considerably. However, he sometimes suffers violent seizures, resulting from a faulty gene purposely inserted into his genome by the TUGM, and must take tryptophan supplements to control them.
Appearance: Varek is, for the most part, human. He is tall and lanky, but very well-muscled. He has long, wavy, platinum blonde hair, golden yellow eyes, and pale, sallow skin. He would look quite sickly, were he not so visibly vigorous. Here's a link:
