My pulse is out of line
My tears bring stares
Why doesn't my sun shine?
It's not like anyone cares

I cry of confusion
I cry of heartache
Is my life only an illusion?
My world is starting to shake

And all I can do is stand here
Waiting for the worst to come
My emotions nothing but fear
At least I'll receive acknowledgment - some

Has the air always been so thick?
Everyone's expressions were blank
Has the ground always been so slick?
And then my heart sank

A man reached out and gave me a black rose
The sign of death here
I stiffened up, eyes wide, and froze
The time was near

"You're not wanted here." Said a husky voice
"I know." A tear slipped down my cheek
I knew he didn't have a choice
All of them looked upon me for what I am - a freak

As they led me to my last breath
Counting the thumps in my chest until my heart's last beat
Even the birds were watching, waiting for my death
My mind full of regrets, so many people I never got a chance to meet

My black hair blew in the wind
This is my last day
And the man stared, then grinned
I never realized my life was so gray

"I never got a chance!" I screamed
Did I stop breathing?
Suddenly the world paused, it seemed
Who was that screaming?
