So I wanted to post a new topic, and settled for this. We all know that in the US at least, summer is the ideal time for family reunions. My family has been skipping out on the 3 we used to go to in years past. Unfortunately, my family left for vacation on Friday and I had to stay behind because of my service to AmeriCorps and my brother has work. Well turns out my lovely grandmother wants me to go to the one today and I have to or risk upsetting her. My brother got out of it. He got called last night and told he had to work today.
So what's your feelings on family reunions? Me, I hate the damned things. I only know my intermediate family that goes, either from mom's side or dad's side depending. I don't know the entire batch of people that go, and frankly I don't think I'd want to... they're a bit scary. That and old fashioned... *shudders* But I must go today to make grandma happy.
Your thoughts on family reunions?

x_X I hate family reunions. Normally I don't feel the need to announce my gayness for everybody to hear, but reunions and visiting relatives just bring it out in me. It doesn't help that 90% of my family is crazy.

Well the reunion was very stupid. There are even less people attending it than the last time I went two years ago. It only lasted two and a half hours once the eating started. Only good thing I got out of it was a bag of blow-pops and set of kissing teddy bears. I only wanted the blow pops to give to my Energy Express kids anyway. But it was stupid.

I like my Family reunions, mainly because there is always a bunch of drunk hysterical people throwing there money around and i mean this literally.
As a side note: I'm sorry about your family reunion, but look on the bright side Blow-pops!

In droves. And they smell funny. Okay maybe not that last one, but the first two!

Ah, you're clearly in denial. ALL old people smell funny.
Mine are drunks, too, but we're Scottish so there is no money thrown around. xd

You're lucky- I hate my family reunions. At the last one, I had to stick around since my mom was putting everything together and wanted me nearby to help. I ate lunch in the kitchen until my mom threw me out to sit with my grandmother, then I went and walked around by myself outside for the next hour and a half until my mom said I could leave. All in all, it sucked.
