So, I just got back from spending the weekend in Buffalo with some other Goo fans, and wow! What a weekend!!
We're on a Greyhound, heading into the states, and what do we see? City Hall! Live in Buffalo instantly comes to mind, and we start taking pictures. Then we see Dunn Tire Park. Now, this is where they shot the video for There You Are!! So of course we got a picture. We get off the bus and ask for directions to the Hyatt, where we are staying. Well, on the way there what do we see? Broadway. That's right. THE Broadway. More pictures!! We get to the Hyatt, and right across the street is the Century Bar & Grill. The guys eat at the Century all the time, and they recorded Let Love In above it!! They also stay at the Hyatt when they come to Buffalo, and were staying there while we were (although I didn't see them). The next day we went out to West Seneca (right outside Buffalo) to see Robby's childhood home. His parents still live there, and someone in our group had some connections, and we got to meet them! They are the sweetest people ever!!! Robby's dad told us how to get to Robby's high school, so we headed off there next. After that, we went out to drive down Broadway (which is a really shady part of town). We went to Clark & Kent Streets (Superman Corner!) which is also an extremely shady part of town! We drove past Johnny's childhood home, although we didn't get a picture. We then headed out to McKinley High, where Johnny went to high school. We also saw Buffalo State College, which is where Johnny and Robby met! Then we went back to the Hyatt. When we were there, we decided to look for the Continental, which is where the guys used to play all the time when they were just starting out. Turns out it's just around the corner from the Hyatt! We grabbed some pizza and Buffalo wings with some other fans, then went back to the hotel. We wandered the third floor in hopes of seeing the Goo's (no luck), then rode on a school bus with a ton of other crazy Goo fans to the show!! (I'll review the show in another thread) We came back, and six of us decided to hang out in the lobby to see if we could meet the guys coming back. Turns out they went straight from the venue to the next city, so we waited for nothing - from 12:30 until 6 am!! I then went upstairs and grabbed two hours of sleep before we packed up and headed out on the Greyhound. We got some better pictures of Dunn Tire park on the way out of Buffalo.
I'm exhausted, but it was the most fun EVER!!! I'll post the pictures as soon as I get them uploaded.

I'm officially jealous. God, SO jealous! Argh! I still won't be seeing them any time soon. Ah well. I loved the pics. Isn't there a recording studio on Carl and Kent? LOts of their stuff is from there I think. Nice pics, and it was very nice of you to leave off the personal pics of his parents' house. I wouldn't want my house all over the internet...

Johnny's house is by Clark and Kent, but we didn't know exactly which one it was, and when we found out it was dark. There was no way we were walking down there at night. It's shady.
They have a recording studio on Franklin street. We weren't too far from there, but for some reason none of us even thought to go there. We'll have to get it next time. biggrin

I love your Clarke and Kent pic. I set it as my background (I hope you don't mind- yell at m if you do). Yes, i can imagine from some of the songs and what John has said that his neighborhod would a little shady. I dunn though- with such a big group, I think I would have risked it. What if he went home for like a pizza before they left? Party with the boys! lol. Can you tell me what broadway is, cause when I first heard the song I thought of like big time NY but now that I know theres a Broadway in Buffalo I think it would be cool to put an image with the song.

Broadway is a street in Buffalo. Clark Street runs off of Broadway, so that's the neighbourhood Johnny grew up in. Very shady. Don't go alone.
I don't mind if you use the Clark and Kent picture.

It's so pretty. I mean I know the city is supposed to be going to pieces, but I think it's beautiful. I didn't know that Amigone was a funeral home. Hmm. Learn something everyday!! biggrin
