Name: Kotobiki Shuya (called Shu by close friends) Age: 15 Gender: Female (extreme tomboy) Sign/Element: Boar / Leo / Fire spirit
Eye: Very dark green, almost black Hair: Black, kept fairly short and spiked with bangs falling in her eyes. Not as short in the back as the reference picture!! Softer than the ref. Build: Tall and boyish. Has a modest figure that she hides under boy-clothes; very flexible, built for gymnastics and speed. Look: Japanese. On first glance, you don't see that Shuya is a girl. She wears the boy's school uniform, dresses like a boy on her free time, and even walks like a boy. She doesn't HIDE it, though- given five minutes to talk to her, most people figure out she's a girl.
Personality: Serious. Protective, confident, logical under most situations. Has a rowdy temper if you get her going. For the most part, Shuya is a nice person who helps old ladies with their groceries, gives strangers directions, and retrieves things up high for the children that can't reach them. Likes: Seiji. Skating (inline), speed, the wind in her face. Cigarettes, candles, matches, incense. Fire. Dislikes: Seiji. Water (particularly swimming). Dogs (allergic). Bullies.
Pets: None...yet.
Hobbies: Inline skating, long walks alone. Reading (mostly non-fiction). Sitting outside her papa's workroom with eyes closed, listening to him work magic. Sketching (this is nothing she takes seriously, but she does it ALL THE TIME...so she's pretty good).
For Commissions:
Shuya's school uniform is navy blue slacks, navy vest, white button shirt (tucked in), burgundy tie, and navy blazer. She does not usually wear the blazer. Most of the time when she's not IN class, she takes off the tie and unbuttons her top collar buttons.
She can also be drawn in normal boy's clothes, which is usually jeans and layered shirts.
PLEASE don't forget, she IS a girl, no matter how much of a tomboy she is! She doesn't have much of a figure, but it IS there.
This necklace must be included in any of her art. When worn around her neck, the medallion reaches almost to her stomach. It can also be carried in her hand, chain wrapped around her fingers, or some other creative way to include it. Either way, one point must be pointing up. One point up, two points down, please!
Shuya does smoke; including this is optional. She also likes lighters. A lot. See below.
Her magic is fire. Feel free to be creative and add it in!
If you can include this guy, that would be MORE than awesome. He's about the size of a half-grown housecat. He likes to cause trouble, but he's a fairly nice creature and Shuya loves him.

Cards & Information Name: Crowley Type: The Blaze Subtype: Water
As Shuya's first capture, Crowley is very special to her...when he's not curiously setting things on fire. Mischeivious and slightly wicked, the little fire creature is difficult to control and as stubborn as she is. He doesn't usually mean any harm, however, and likes to curl up with her for naps.
Name: Laveau Type: The Chaos Subtype: Fire
Not much is known about this card at the moment except that Shuya can't handle it- for the moment, it remains locked up in her father's workroom until she can convince it to be more cooperative.
Name: (Krazy) Karyle Type: The Mad Hatter (Costume/The Devil) Subtype: Macabre
Karyle is...a very odd Card. He seems to be very laid back and calm in nature, civilized enough for easy conversation and actually quite helpful when it comes to the Cards. When he looses his temper, however, he goes PSYCHO...so while he's normally very easy to work with, Shuya finds herself with ANOTHER card she can't really control. She'd like to point out to the management that this is getting old.

Family Dad- Kotobiki Takeo Shuya's family is pure Japanese stock, though her father was born in the US. His innate magical ability (naturally Eastern, but trained in the Western style) got him involved with the Council of American Wizards; his fluency in Japanese language and culture earned him the honored position of Liaison to Japan on the Council's behalf. Thus, he moved his wife (who was actually from Japan, herself) and his young daughter to Japan. Keo, at 33, is young to be a father of an independant teenager, but he manages well with charm, easy communication with his family, and a protective nature that still gives his 'princess' room to breathe. He is sharp-eyed, quick-thinking, and a very strong Wizard himself...with a boyish nature that lets him smile at the world and fairly explode with curiosity over Shu's cards.

Solo: Can't Hide From Dad
Shuya found the card shortly after she got home. The large apartment she shared with her parents was very quiet in the evenings; her mother was secretive and silent by nature, and her father didn't return from work until late. This arrangement suited her just fine, given that she was a fairly solitary creature herself.
Slipping out of her uniform in her room, she came across the hard bit of cardstock and frowned. The picture on the front certainly LOOKED like the creature she'd fought, but where had the card come from...and why had the strange Wizard's voice sounded so much like Seiji's? There were so many questions to answer, and it wasn't good that the only source of answers she had was a lifeless card with "The Blaze" written across the front.
Resolutely, she changed into more comfortable clothes and carried the card to her father's workroom. Shorts and a T-shirt with the logo of her favorite skate company didn't match well with the arcane, hushed feel of the wood-paneled room. Her father would hole up in the featureless room for hours as he worked, knowing it was safe from outside (and inside) magicks; she'd spent a lot of time in rooms like this as he tried to teach her the rudiments of being a Wizard. At least she wasn't lighting things randomly on fire anymore.
She closed the door behind her, sealing the wards on the room, and did her grounding excersizes. Patiently. For the next half hour she did everything she could possibly remember to get the card to reveal it's secrets...nothing was working. She was still tired from the fight that afternoon, and frustration killed her enthusiasm early on. Sitting on the floor with her head in her hands, staring down at the card, she didn't realize she had company until a shadow fell over her, and long fingers scooped the card up from the flor.
"What's this...?" Takeo murmured, eyebrows up as he turned the card over in his hands. Her father was dressed in a plain black suit with white shirt and black tie; his more conservative associates were horrified by the blond highlights in his dark hair and the emerald stud in his left ear. Keo was young to have a fifteen-year-old daughter, and she'd been mortified more than once by strangers that mistook him for her brother. He also moved with cat-like silence, and she'd jumped out of her skin when his hands enetered her field of vision. "Have you been raiding the creepy little magic shops again, Shuya?"
"N-no," she managed, leaning back on her hands and frowning up at him. "I was with Seiji-kun this afternoon, and we went to his uncle's hotel because Seiji wanted to swim. That thing attacked me at the pool. It's some kind of little fire demon, and I'm not entirely sure how I caught it...but now it won't come out."
"I thought you didn't like Seiji-chi?" Takeo murmured with a little smile, turning the card over in his hands. "It's good to hear you're playing relatively nice." At her noise of irritation, he handed the card back to her with raised eyebrows. "You should try giving it a name."
"Dad." Shuya was quite old enough to know a lot about magical...things, and last time she'd checked GIVING a demon a name didn't get you anywhere. She left the subject of Seiji alone. "I really don't think that's the solution."
"I'm serious. Just do it, Shuya...can't you put a little more faith in your poor, overworked father?" He looked so mournful with those damn puppy-dog eyes that she threw up her hands in exasperation, glaring at the card.
"Okay fine- it can be named Crowley. Like that stupid so-called 'evil' American with the oversized ego and cult following." She was being much more sarcastic than serious...which was why it was such a surprise when the card glowed faintly, and she could have SWORN she heard a high-pitched giggle in the air.
"You see?" Keo told her softly, and plucked the card from her startled fingers. Taking the few steps away he needed to make sure she wasn't in the line of fire, he released the card into the air. It hovered in front of his eyes, due to his own magic rather than anything the card was doing.
"Reveal to me your secrets, Crowley," he asked gently. Takeo was a much, much more powerful Wizard than his daughter, and there wasn't much that resisted one of his commands; the card seemingly burst into fire. That caused his eyebrows to raise yet again as Shuya came to stand next to him, expression of polite curiosity on his face as the little ball of flame...spoke.
"BAD." It spat the word, and after a moment the little figure that had attacked Shuya became visible. Gleaming red eyes stood out sharply against the dark red and pale blue of it's 'skin;' with it holding still, Shuya was surprised to note the earring and little gold bracelets it...he...wore. "Not Master. Bad."
Takeo smiled. He seemed delighted by the little creature, an emotion Shuya was wary of sharing. "Ah, but this girl is your Master now, isn't she? She's given you a name, one all your own...she must be a good Master."
Shuya considered this to be a fairly poor argument, but the fire-creature- the Blaze- seemed to be putting some serious thought into it. Crowley squirmed, and Takeo released his magic- letting him float over to Shuya. She watched him with suspicion, but he didn't seem inclined to attack her again.
His Master had given him to this Master. He knew that, though Shuya might not have any idea. His Master had made her work hard to capture him, though, so he figured she'd earned a chance. "Master," he conceeded, leaning forward to touch noses with Shuya. "Could be good Master."
"Go on, Shuya," her father murmured, and hesitantly the girl raised her hands to pet Crowley. The flames didn't burn her; he wasn't afraid of fire anyway, given that it was her main magic, but he didn't appear to be hot when he didn't want to be. The little creature leaned into her touch like a cat, and surprised an involuntary smile out of her as he flitted to sit on her shoulder and curl up against her cheek.
"Library," he yawned with a final-sounding note, and blinked sleepily at Takeo. It was strange, how Shuya got the image so clearly in her mind...along with the passing students in the uniforms that had already been bought for her first day of school.
"The...Westchase library," she answered slowly, and was rewarded with a sleepy nod from Crowley. Her father simply shrugged; nothing really surprised him.
"I guess you've got a few surprises waiting for you at school, then," he said cheerfully. "Go take your little friend and get ready for bed- you've tired yourself out enough for one night."
