Hihi!! There are no rules or prompts, just write what you want!! Be it non-fiction, fiction, poetry, or just rambling, I wanna read it!! I and an esteemed panel of judges (my friends who read my work and are very honest critics) will pick the first and second place winners, based on quality, grammar, proper use of paragraphs, and attention to detail. Either I or the other judges will send a PM critiquing every piece of writing submitted. Proper spelling is not important, but please try to spell stuff right. There is no limit for the length, but if it is very long you will have to wait a few days for us to read and critique it. The other judges will be introduced later on. FANFICTION IS NOT ACCEPTED. I want ORIGINAL work. I do love FanFiction, but this is not a FanFic contest. The winner will recieve 500 gold, and the second place will get 200 gold. Also, if I find out that someone has plagarized (sp?) someone else's work, they will be disqualified immediately. I know you're all honest people, but I had someone plaigarize my work once and I just wanted to put that out there to warn anyone who's thinking about it. Have fun!!!

Ooh! May I enter using the story I have posted in another thread? The link is here, and I can post the full text in this thread if you'd prefer.

Of course, I have a few other stories to enter instead if needed, so...

And yes, Arabellatrix, I would like you to post your story here. I read your story already, but it would be easier for others to have it here. Good luck!!

Oh, and I have not decided on a time limit. I will let you know at least 2 weeks in advance before the end of the contest, but for now it will continue indefinitely.

Oh goody! -starts scribbling down ideas-

Tonight, like every night, Salen wound his way through the alleys. She would be there tonight, she had to be. She would probably never take interest in a boy lower in rank than herself, but he had to see her. Creeping slowly, he made his way surely to the bak door of the Richmon's mansion. Kalina had been away, but he'd heard through the cracks that she was coming back. Oh how he hoped she'd be there, sitting elegantly in her chair, poised and refined.
As he got to the window, he leaned onto his toes to get a better look. Disappointment came instead of the euphoria that he'd expected. Kalina's mother was sobbing into a handkercheif and Mr. Richmon stood beside her, his arm about her shoulder.
"I'm afraid there's nothing to be done," a man's voice said, out of Salen's veiw. "Her carriage was taken down to the side of the road not five miles from here, the driver and footman were killed, but there was no sign of your daughter."
Mr. Richmon nodded. Over his wife's sobs, he replied, "Thank you, Officer. It means a good deal to us that you came to tell us about this. Our lives would have been more dispicable if we hadn't known what had happened. Bandits these days, there's no controlling them."
"We do try, but they hide deep in the forest, we can't find our way in," the officer sypathized. He stayed a while longer, but Salen dropped to the ground outside the window.
She was gone, no one had found her. She'd been kidnapped. The only solution he could think of was that the officers of law weren't trying nearly hard enough. He'd have to find her on his own, but how?

Thanks for your entry, Jenna Taylor! I just have one question, is this finished, or are you going to continue? If you do continue, please just edit your post and add in the next part so that the continuation will not be confused with a new entry. Once again, thanks!! heart

Ok, I have one of the judges already reading some work. His name is tails-sensi13, so you may end up getting a PM from him, ok. If you have your mail set so that only friends can mail stuff to you, please either put us on your friends list for the contest or check back at the forum regularly to find out what we think of your story!

Ok, we have a little bit of nice-ness for all of you. After you submit your piece of writing, you will have 2 more chances to revise and re-submit it. The 3rd submission will be the final draft, and you can submit as many different stories as you want.

Untitled (Prompt)

This wretched life means so much to you, doesn’t it Darling Dearest? You’re not the man I fell in love with all those many years ago, nor are you the man I thought you’d end up being. A monster is what you are. A drunken, gambling, thieving fiend is what you are! You cause me pain. You cause my newborn hunger. You cause sins to plague us and the church to turn against us. Our suffering is your fault. Is this how you intended to live? In the slums with not but a penny to our name? You stole my heart when we were younger, and never gave it back. You’ve gambled away your earnings, and refused to let me leave. This wretched life means so much to you, doesn’t it?

I've actually changed my mind about the story I'd like to enter. I know we can have more than one, but still, I'll just enter this one. biggrin

“Here you go!”

Leah glanced at the bag held in front of her warily. It was a brown paper sack with various dark, greasy patches around the bottom.

“You expect me to eat that?”

Jamie’s cheerful face vanished, to be replaced by one that almost looked offended.

“Well…Yeah. I just thought you might prefer some nice, hot fries and chicken over some dumb healthy food.”

“I send you to the store for just one bag of salad mix—an astonishingly simple request—and you screw that up. Thanks, Jamie.” She gave the offered food a small push. “You eat it, I’ll just go get some myself.”

“Uh…You can’t.” Leah’s roommate didn’t dare look up at her, busying herself with pulling out what was essentially gobs of artery blockage.

Leah stopped walking, slowly turning around. “What do you mean?”

“Well, I got a bunch of food for us, you know, to make sure we’d both be full, and I spent the last of that money.” Jamie gave her a guilty face. “I’m reaaally sorry, Leah,” she said, stretching out the word as though it would compensate for her frequent mistakes.

She continued. “And, since you can’t go get salad…Why waste all this food I got?” Jamie inquired, waving her hand over the big bucket of fried chicken, several containers of french fries, and two burgers.

“Do you recall me ever telling you I’m vegetarian?” But it was no use. Jamie had tuned her out, eyes fixed on the television she had just turned on. A newscaster, her appearance prim and perfect as the tailored suit she wore, was standing in front of a rather rundown-looking building.

“Fries don’t have meat in them,” she said mindlessly, staring at the lit screen. She was hungrily attacking the bucket of chicken, as though it had done her some great wrong.

Leah sighed, grudgingly nibbling one. There was absolutely no food left, thanks to that stupid party Jamie had insisted on throwing. Well, her ‘health crap’, as her roommate so kindly referred to it, had been left alone, but she hadn’t really had much left. It was all gone now.

She turned her attention to the television.

“…Paul Kollfen, a frequent visitor to the MegaBurger. One customer reported seeing someone fitting his description arguing with an employee at the counter, though all they managed to hear was that he seemed to be complaining about his chicken fingers.”

“Exactly why I don’t eat chicken,” Leah muttered. Well, not exactly, but it was yet another reason she didn’t miss fast food.

“The witness said that it occurred Thursday, three days before he was reported missing. Samples are being taken, and–”

Jamie suddenly turned the volume down, as the phone started ringing.

“Hello?” She asked cheerily, still holding a rather large amount of fries.

Leah’s eyes swept over the table, wondering how much had been eaten–they froze on the grease-stained bag bulging with used napkins and empty ketchup packets.

“Uh…Jamie?”

Jamie gave her an annoyed look, making a shushing motion with her fry-filled hand.

Leah looked back at the bag, where the word “MegaBurger” was printed in glaringly bright colors.

“Jamie!” She said again.

The girl muttered something along the lines of “hold on a sec” before turning to Leah. “What? I’m trying to talk with Jason–you know, Jason as in my boyfriend?”

Leah grabbed the remote and turned the volume back up.

“…Suspected that Kollfen is MegaBurger’s newest ingredient, which isn’t surprising. When the police came to shut it down, cockroaches and rats were found crawling all over the place, and…”

Leah slowly got up to inspect the chicken, and Jamie followed, hanging up on her boyfriend.

“Well…Did he taste good?” Leah asked, voice shaking.

Jamie said nothing, horrified at the little bits she hadn’t even noticed in the so-called chicken.

Leah suspected her roommate might be going vegetarian after this.
